Healing Your Inner Child Through Energy Healing

Our Inner Child is the younger version of ourselves that was wounded, hurt, or had unmet needs. It’s our younger self that developed patterns, coping mechanisms, belief systems and ideas that served a purpose when we were young, but tend to create unhealthy patterns in our life as we age. Sometimes this inner child shows up as a harsh inner critic.

Inner child work is about reconnecting with those vulnerable parts of ourselves shaped by early experiences and healing the wounds that have stayed with us.

Energy healing can support this process by helping to release the emotional blockages that hold us back and restoring a sense of balance and safety within. Together, these practices create the space needed for deep healing, allowing the inner child to feel seen, cared for, and ultimately empowered to move forward.

Signs the inner child needs healing

I find that for those of us who need to do this work, our inner child often comes knocking a few times (or more) before we finally listen. In my own experience, each knock was a little louder, a little harsher, and a little more painful than the last. The patterns were always the same, just different people, different names. The years continued to pass. For some reason, nothing changes.

A few ways you might notice the Inner Child calling out for your help include:

  • Issues with codependency

  • People-pleasing

  • Not feeling good enough

  • Self-Worth issues

  • Issues around self-love, not liking or even hating oneself.

  • Fears

  • Feeling inadequate

  • Strong tendencies towards perfectionism

  • Shame

  • Difficulty with boundaries

  • Unresolved trauma

  • Repeated unhealthy patterns in relationships, work, friendships, finances and other areas of life

The Universe has a way about it, doesn’t it? It brings you the precise people, experiences, or situations that push you to look within, and when we don’t - the next person or experience is worse than the last. Until finally we’re brought to our knees. And we break. And we’re never the same again. This is when I find most people come to inner child work, when it’s too painful to “carry on.” Something has to change.

Understanding inner child work

Inner Child work is life changing. That being said, the work needs room to move and breathe. It needs time and space for you to adjust and integrate. To process, to grieve, to be angry, and if right, to forgive.

I understand the desire to just ‘be done with it already’ or to want it out of your life, especially if you’ve been through a lot and you’re just sick of the pattern. However, when doing Inner Child work, I strongly recommend giving it the time it needs. It can bring up strong emotions, sometimes even physical releases. The body and mind need time to process.

I find healing the Inner Child often happens in layers with a series of realizations and insights. In this work we develop new eyes to see the world in a different way. What was once so normalized no longer is. You’re now liberated to choose differently, and choose better.

How energy healing can support inner child work

Another aspect of Inner Child work is learning how to meet your own needs in a healthy way. Part of the journey is about learning to parent yourself in a way that perhaps you needed, but didn’t receive when you were younger.

In a session like this, we do Psychological Energy Healing. This involves gently clearing and healing the conscious and subconscious mind of negative thoughts, limiting beliefs, old programs, and unresolved emotions.

These patterns and wounds show up in the chakras and energy body, affecting our physical, emotional, and mental well-being. By addressing these energetic patterns, we can release what no longer serves us, creating space for deep healing of the Inner Child.

It’s important to be honest, this is serious work. While I am a good listener and have expertise in energy healing, I am not a therapist.

Working with a licensed therapist can be an important part of your journey. Whether it’s one-on-one therapy or group sessions, therapy provides a safe space to process, integrate, and navigate deeper layers of trauma.

Energy healing is extremely complementary to therapy and can help you move through these patterns more quickly. For this is a type of healing, I would recommend taking an integrated approach. In addition, things like journaling, ritual or meditation, and movement (be it exercise, dance, etc.) are helpful tools for this process.

Healing your Inner Child is a journey, and it’s not always an easy one. But it is deeply transformative. If you feel ready for this work, or have already begun and would like support, I offer 1:1 Energy Healing sessions to help soothe and mend these wounds.

You don’t have to move through this alone. If it feels right for you, please reach out or book a session so you can take the next step toward healing and reconnecting with your inner self.
