What to Expect in Your First Akashic Record Reading

Being in the Akashic Records can be a deeply transformative experience, offering insight into your patterns, challenges, and your soul’s journey. No two sessions are alike, as each reading unfolds based on what is most important for you in that moment.

There are a few things that can help your session feel more aligned and successful, as well as a few things to be mindful of before entering the Records.

In this blog post, I'll discuss what you can expect in your first Akashic Record reading, how to prepare, and how to get the most out of your experience.

How We Show Up

How we show up to a session matters.

If you're going through a particularly difficult time or feeling angry, highly emotional, paranoid, or deeply distrustful, I would encourage you to consider an Energy Healing session before booking an Akashic Record reading.

You don't necessarily need to believe in the Akashic Records for a session to be meaningful. However, approaching the experience with an open mind and showing up in a calm, receptive state can be very helpful. It allows you to engage more fully with the information that comes through and often leads to a more productive session. When we're in this state, it's easier to gain access and engage with the Akashic Records. The information tends to flow more freely, allowing for greater clarity, insight, and understanding during the session.

Once you understand how to show up, the next step is knowing how to prepare.

How to Prepare for an Akashic Records Session

Before the session begins, it's important to think about what you'd like to ask so you can gain clarity. We can only cover so much in a session, so think about the most important question and start there.

Sometimes the information that comes through will allow us to move through a question quickly. Other times the information coming through will be more in depth and may lead us to doing healing work or clearing during the session. If this comes up I will always check in with your first to see if that’s something you’d like to do. If not, we can always move on.

At the time of booking you will receive a guide on how to phrase your questions.

It’s important to note that we cannot ask questions about the future, as the Akashic Records don’t offer predictions or fortune telling. Instead, if there's a goal you're working towards, a challenge you're facing, or something you'd like to create in your life, we can ask what information, insight, or guidance the Records can offer. In that way we can better understand the present, bringing awareness to patterns, blocks, challenges, and opportunities that may be influencing your life.

Creating Space for the Session

Aside from preparing your questions, you'll want to create a quiet, distraction-free space for your session. Before we begin, please make sure notifications on your phone, computer, and other devices are turned off or set to silent.

It's important that we're both fully present during our time together. The more present and focused you are, the easier it is to engage with the information and insights that come through.

For this reason, I do not offer Akashic Record readings for clients who are driving, working, or otherwise multitasking during the session. Setting aside dedicated time for yourself helps create the best possible experience.

Creating Sacred Space and Accessing the Records

At the beginning of each session, we start by tuning into different levels of our being (physical, mental, emotional, etc.). This simple exercise helps expand our awareness and gently raise our vibration before accessing the Akashic Records. It also provides an opportunity to check in with how the body, mind, emotions are doing in that moment.

From there, we move into creating a Sacred Space. During this process, I will invite you to silently call in any teachers, spirit guides, ancestors, loved ones, or other supportive beings you feel connected to and would like present during the session.

This part of the process is done quietly and with intention. It helps create a supportive environment before we begin working in the Records.

Last but not least, we then open your records through a short guided prayer. Once the Records are open we can begin asking your questions.

Once the Records are open, the session becomes a conversation. I'll share the information, insights, images, or impressions that come through, and you'll have the opportunity to ask questions and explore the information further.

Because we are opening your Records together, I encourage you to pay attention to any information, sensations, images, thoughts, feelings, or intuitive nudges through your intuition that you may receive during the session. Sometimes clients notice their own insights, memories, or impressions arising as we work in the Records.

Some sessions move quickly from question to question. Others spend more time exploring a particular theme, pattern, or area of growth. Every session is unique and unfolds differently depending on what is most important for you at that time.

At the end of the hour we will close your Akashic Records through a closing prayer and offering gratitude. We will also give thanks to all those we invited to our sacred space.

Now that you know what a session looks like, let's talk about boundaries — specifically, the kinds of questions the Records aren't able to answer.

Questions We Can't Ask

We've already covered questions about the future. However, there are a few other types of questions that we cannot ask in the Akashic Records.

Questions About Other People

We cannot ask questions about another person's path, experiences, or Records. There are two reasons for this. First, we are working in your Records, not theirs. Second, we cannot open another person's Records without their consent.

If you have questions about a relationship, whether familial, romantic, professional, or otherwise, we can absolutely explore it from your perspective. For example, we might ask what the relationship is here to teach you, what patterns are present, what needs attention in order to improve the situation, or what growth is being asked of you. If someone in your life is having a hard time we can ask how you can best support them during this time.

The focus of the session is always on your journey, your choices, and your relationship to the situation.

Questions About the Stock Market and Housing Market

I wish we could ask questions about these! Ok, joking aside, these questions come up fairly regularly.

The challenge with questions about the stock market, housing market, interest rates, and similar topics is that there are countless factors involved. These situations are constantly unfolding in many different ways, changing, and influenced by the choices of millions of people.

Because of this, it can be very difficult to receive clear and reliable guidance about market movements or financial predictions through the Akashic Records. And when I say very difficult, I mean impossible.

What we can ask instead are questions that relate to your personal path and decision-making. For example, we might explore your relationship with money, fears around investing, blocks to abundance, or what qualities and skills would best support you in reaching your financial goals.

If you're trying to sell a home or property, we can ask whether there are any blocks or underlying issues that need to be addressed in order to support that goal. Another approach would be to open the Akashic Records of the property itself to see what information may be available there.

Yes or No Questions

While you are welcome to ask yes or no questions, the Akashic Records do not typically provide simple yes or no answers. The Records are designed to offer insight, understanding, and perspective rather than make decisions for us.

For example, instead of asking, "Should I leave my job?" We might explore what is and isn't working in your current situation, what lessons are present, what fears may be influencing your decision, and what opportunities are available to you moving forward.

The Records support self-awareness and informed decision-making, but they do not take away your free will. Ultimately, the choices you make remain your own.

Questions We Can Ask

The Akashic Records are well suited to questions that help us better understand ourselves, our experiences, and the path we're currently walking, including your soul's purpose and life purpose.

Some common questions and areas we may explore include:

  • Understanding recurring patterns in your life

  • Identifying blocks that may be holding you back when you feel stuck

  • Exploring relationships from your perspective

  • Understanding challenges you're currently facing

  • Clarifying goals and next steps

  • Exploring your relationship with work, purpose, or career

  • Understanding fears, limiting beliefs, or self-sabotaging patterns

  • Receiving guidance around personal growth and healing

  • Understanding what may best support you during a particular phase of life

Depending on what arises during the session, the Records may also guide us into deeper areas of exploration and healing, such as:

  • Past lives and any beneficial or unfavorable influences they may be having on your current life

  • Archetypes that may be active within your life and influencing your experiences

  • Ancestor and family lineage healing

  • Shadow work and the integration of neglected or wounded aspects of yourself

  • Inner child healing and nurturing

  • Forgiveness work with yourself or others

  • Clearing energetic blocks and obstacles

  • Healing for the body, mind, emotions, finances, relationships, and other areas of life

  • Anchoring qualities such as confidence, self-love, resilience, trust, and more.

  • Strengthening intuitive abilities, healing gifts, or spiritual development

Every session is unique. Some focus primarily on receiving information and guidance, while others naturally move into healing, clearing, or transformational work. The Records tend to reveal what is most important for you at that particular time, offering wisdom and divine guidance at a soul level.

What to Expect After Your Akashic Records Session

Every session is different, and so is the integration process that follows.

Some sessions leave people with things to work on, reflect on, or address in their lives. Other sessions involve healing, clearing, or transformational work that takes place during the session itself, leaving little or no "homework" to do afterward.

If something doesn't resonate with you, it's perfectly fine to place it in the "waiting room" of your mind and simply leave it there. Sometimes information makes sense immediately, while other times it may take weeks, months, or even years before its meaning becomes clear.

It's completely normal not to fully understand every piece of guidance right away. You may also walk away with more questions than you came in with. That's a normal part of the process too, and often a sign that the Records have opened up something worth continuing to sit with.

It's also common to continue processing a session after it has ended. New insights, realizations, emotions, or connections may arise in the hours, days, or weeks that follow. Giving yourself time and space to reflect on the experience can be just as important as the session itself.

If healing or clearing work was done during the session, the integration process may continue for several hours or even days afterward. During this time, you may notice shifts in awareness, emotions, perspectives, or energy as the work continues to settle and integrate.

If you'd like extra support along the way, you don't have to rely on Akashic readings alone. A reading can be a powerful tool, and it pairs well with other spiritual practices such as guided meditations to help you stay connected to your own intuition between sessions.
