Manifesting with Strategy to Nurture Your Goals After the Winter Solstice
The Winter Solstice has come to pass, and with it, the light has been reborn. This isn’t just poetic language used to mark the changing of seasons, it’s something happening on an energetic level, both within us, Nature and with the Sun itself.
Many in the energy community use this season to set intentions and welcome new manifestations, but what often gets overlooked is the grounded strategy needed to bring those goals to life.
With this in mind, I want to focus this blog post on helping you outline your New Year’s resolutions. While there is plenty of advice on manifestation techniques, I’ve noticed that the energy world often overlooks reverse engineering goals and strategic thinking. These practices not only help you clarify what you want to manifest, but also show you the steps needed to get there. I’ve been using this approach for years, and not a single goal goes by without it.
Understanding Post‑Solstice Energy Shifts
From the moment of the Winter Solstice the light inside us starts to grow again, quietly, delicately. It’s not a blazing fire or a sudden surge of motivation. It’s a small flame, newly born, and easily extinguished if we’re not paying attention. This light is our life force: the energetic foundation for all good things in life.
Before charging ahead with New Year’s goals, it’s worth acknowledging that Winter is a time when it’s easy to fall out of balance due to reduced sunlight (and thus lower levels of solar prana). Balance is not only helpful for health and vitality, it’s foundational for bringing our goals into the world.
During this season, the body asks for more care. Cold, darkness, and shortened days invite us to prioritize warmth, rest, gentleness, and coziness, simple practices that help stabilize our energy as we journey toward Spring. Though basic, these practices can be deeply balancing.
Your energy body literally needs to be balanced for things to manifest physically. If the lower chakras are too weak or too small (which is common this time of year) any manifestation technique is going to be tricky.
Tips for Setting New Year’s Resolutions and Goals
Now that we know about these energetic shifts, here are some tips as you take the time to reflect about the goals you'd like to work on:
Focus on a few goals to start
Realistically we can only handle so many goals at once. If you have a lot of goals for the year ahead choose your top 3 for this exercise. Work on those first. Only introduce more when those ones have manifested. Otherwise you may spread yourself too thin.
Keep your goals close to your heart
A word to the wise. Tell no one. Nobody needs to know about your goals. I’ve seen people share how telling someone makes it more ‘real’. Telling people sets you up for failure. Here’s why:
I’ve described the light at this time of year like a small delicate flame that needs nurturing. So it is with your goals. In fact, they’re not even a small flame yet .. energetically they’re just a delicate seed.
Unfortunately the human mind produces a lot of thoughts. Even if someone is not outwardly negative or unsupportive about your goal, you never know what people are thinking. If someone’s mind is in a negative space those thoughts can build up and eventually torpedo towards that goal energetically.
You must protect your goals, nurture them and keep people on a need to know basis (more on that in a minute). Talking about your goals can cause unnecessary obstacles energetically and worse case scenario just sabotage them altogether. Tell people when it happens in the physical world and everything is set in stone.
Reverse engineer your goals
Reverse engineer your goals by starting with the end vision, and then working backward into clear, actionable steps. When you identify the final outcome first, you can map out the smaller milestones that need to unfold along the way. Reverse engineering also helps strengthen the lower chakras, especially those responsible for bringing ideas into the physical world.
Step‑by‑Step: Setting Aligned New Year’s Goals
For this exercise I strongly recommend using a pen and paper. There’s a lot of energy in writing and that’s what we need right now. You’ll need one piece of paper per goal.
As you work through this process, you’re not just creating a roadmap for your goals, you’re actively balancing and strengthening your energy body.
Our energy body shifts for better or worse based on how we think and the actions we take, or don’t take, and this kind of focused planning gives it exactly the support it needs to bring ideas into reality.
Step One: Outline the Goal
The first step is to clearly outline your goal. What we’re really doing here is describing a concrete outcome, something specific enough that your mind and energy know what they’re working toward.
Here’s an example:
I had a safe, fun, smooth, and successful trip to Iceland and back.
Simple. Positive. Affirming.
In this outcome, success for me meant having fun and getting there and back safely. Smooth means relatively free of unnecessary obstacles or challenges along the way. Writing goals this way helps anchor them in clarity rather than wishful thinking. We affirm them as if they’ve already happened because this places the mind in a state of completion.
If you know what you want, that’s already half the work. It’s very difficult to manifest anything when you’re unclear about what you want (been there, done that, got the t-shirt).
Step Two: Personnel
Next, I like to outline the people involved in the goal. These are the individuals, perhaps even organizations or companies that are part of bringing the outcome to life and therefore on a need-to-know basis.
For our example here, this may include:
The people I was traveling with
The airline
The car or camper van rental company
Lodging hosts
Anyone responsible for home or pet care while I was away
At this stage, I’ll often include names and contact information where relevant. Also it’s nice to have everyone’s contact info all in one place.
Step Three: Outline the Goal in Broad Strokes aka Tasks
Once the personnel are clear, I zoom out and look at the goal from a high level. Here I write down the major tasks, without worrying about details yet. This is still big-picture thinking.
For example:
Book flight
Book hotel
Book camper van
Outline key sightseeing areas
Clothing
Kitty care / house sitting
Set dates
Budget
This step gives shape to the goal without being overwhelming.
Step Four: Details (Reverse Engineering)
Once the broad strokes are down, I start to move into the details. This is where reverse engineering really comes into play. By working backward from the completed outcome, we create a clear, realistic path forward.
Examples of smaller details might include:
Checking passport expiration dates
Researching weather and seasonal conditions
Creating a packing list
Comparing flight times and routes
Scheduling pet care in advance
Setting aside funds each month
Confirming time off or adjusting work schedules
This process leaves us with a pathway. Instead of holding a vague desire, we now have a sequence of actions that support the outcome.
Step 5: Scheduling
Now it’s time to make it happen. Look at all the tasks and details you’ve outlined, and place them in a realistic timeline. Set dates, deadlines, and milestones for each step, this is about creating a clear path for your goal to become a reality.
Scheduling turns your strategy into action, protects your energy, and helps the light within you continue to grow without being extinguished by overwhelm.
After that, I tape it to my wall where I can see it every day, which helps me stay consistent in working on it. If you’re like me and enjoy ‘crossing things off the list’ then this can be incredibly satisfying while you bring your goal to life.
Nurturing Your Goals with Guidance and Energy Work
If you encounter internal blocks or limiting beliefs during this process, reach out to the right support. Energetic and emotional obstacles are part of the process, and guidance can help your goals flourish. I’ve always enjoyed working through obstacles to reach a goal, it can be a wonderful opportunity for growth and learning. Don’t let them discourage you or stop you altogether.
As the light begins to grow after the Winter Solstice, sometimes our goals need a little extra support to take root and flourish. I offer 1:1 mentorship, energy healing, and Akashic Record sessions to help you release blocks, gain clarity, and align your energy with your intentions. Whether you’re navigating limiting beliefs or simply want guidance as you step into the year ahead, these sessions provide a space for your goals to grow with ease and confidence.
Happy New Years to all of you! Wishing you all good things in the year to come.
